tilt...

$350 swing in about 3 mins
run 2 overpairs into flopped sets.
run another AK vs AA preflop against someone who 3 betted 12% of his hands, and just showed a 3 betted hand with 76ss.

tilt...

Speaking of being sensitive to 4 bets..

So this guy sits down, two to my right.
2nd hand, he raises BTN, I 3 bet from BB /w something like 66, he 4 bets. I fold.
3rd hand, he raises CO, I 3 bet from SB /w AQdd, he 4 bets...
I tilt, and stack off to AKss.

:(
Kept playing on that table for a while and turns out this guy is super tight....
However, I kept getting 3 betted like no other by the other players

Thank god I run good

When I take shots. Although only played 167 hands, I managed to make over 2 stacks...
Quads help.
Other pic is the most money I've had on a table.

Took my first shot at 200NL

And it was pretty successful. However I did run pretty good....

Had AA 3 times, got paid off a full stack on one of them against a reg who 3 betted me /w A7s SB vs BTN. I had 4betted him once b4 /w AKss and he folded. Damn people are sensitive to 4 bets these days.

Had a fish directly to my right. However... I think he took more money off of me than I did off of him...

Hit like 3 sets... didn't get paid off on any of them but never the less...

Anyways, think I made about 300... and it might constitute as my biggest winning day at cash games...

Experimenting /w ck/shoving river /w bottom of my range

I've been experimenting with check raising the bottom of my range against regs. It's worked out pretty well I think.

This is a bad reg, something like played 3mil hands but overall loser. I kinda remember him messing with me before on this kind of board.

His calling range on the button is pretty wide.
I fire at that flop /w 100% of my range, and I think he'd float me sometimes. His small raise on this flop is kinda weird though, it feels like more of a
A) cheap bluff
B) cheap way to see the river for free.
C) Not likely a Qx, but.... who knows.
Once turn completes a flush and top pair, I planned to check/fold, cuz it completes his flush which is in his range. Now the only hand he's bluffing would be a missed straight draw... Once he checked, flush is out of his range, and Qx is also almost out.
On the river, I considered thin value betting.... but decided its way to thin, since on the river I think most of his range is either complete air, or missed straight draw. He's NEVER strong on the river. So I checked, would've been happy with a show down.
Once he bets, I think it's mostly air. There's a 10% chance that he's doing that with a weak Q, which means he's playing pot control on the turn. Well if he's playing pot control on the turn, that means he doesn't want to put in alot of money on the river, so I check raise to get rid of the last 10% of the Qx. Even though most of his range is air anyways.
I could definitely play a flush this way, and I could possibly play AQ this way to. probably like 20% of the time.

5) Up camelback in less than 40 mins.

Things to do

Before I start my job on June 2nd.
1) Put in a 8 hour session on Stars.... all these years I've played poker, I don't think I've ever played an 8 hour session like a true grinder... hell for cash games I don't think I've played past 3 hours. After starting the job it'd be pretty difficult to set aside a whole day to do this.
2) Vegas
3) Cruise
4) put in a 6 mile jogging session.

most intense interview EVER!

After having a 5 hour interview with 8 ppl, I was invited back for a 2nd round of interview. I was told by the HR that there are 3 more ppl for me to meet.... Walking into the conference room, i saw a couple people in there waiting for me, I recognized one of them whom I have met before. We exchanged pleasantries and I sat patiently for the others. Couple more came in... and then a couple more... before I knew it, there were 11 people in the room ready to pounce on me.
FML.
Guy sits to my left goes, "ok I'll go first" and handed me a packet of C code. "you got 5 mins to answer the questions at the end."
As I take the packet, I could feel 11 pairs of eyes staring at me. I was intimidated to say the least... and i'm 58% sure I peed my pants a lil. I swear to god, that was the fastest 5 mins of my life, before I even got to the questions, he goes "time's up". I'm thinking... i'm screwed.
So I tried my best to explain to him how far I've got and how I got there. Luckily the answers to the questions were literally on the next line I was about to do. I told him the answer, and I think I passed the 1st question.
Question 2, one of the ladies goes "here are two pages of BLAH report, on the wafer diagram it shows 5v, and we are inputing 4.5v. Around the 5v there are some places with 10v, but we are mainly interesting in the 5v region. How do we fix the problem?"
... WHAT THE F IS THE PROBLEM? This is something I've never seen before, I don't even know if there is a problem here....
"Well this is what i would do... " I bullshitted. Quickly realizing I don't even know where to start the bullshit.
"honestly, I've never seen this before and I don't even know what this is...."
Question 2, fail.
Question 3, "do you recognize what this is?" "AN INVERTER, AN INVERTER!" Finally I passed a question with flying colors.... this was a confidence booster...
The rest of the interview was just a blur, I had no idea what went on... I just know I talked alot... and peed alot.
As I was going out the room, I talked to one of the engineers. "you survived it!" he says.
"I guess so..."
"We've actually never done this before... you know, having 11 people in the same room asking you questions at the same time"
"really?.... Lucky me"
Here are a couple of beauties
1) Villain is fish. Once he min check raises, he was getting it allin. Chances are that he has AK/AQ/flush draw a hell lot more than AA/77/A7

2) Villain is solid reg. His 3 betting freq. is about 6.1 over 200 hands. His button 3 betting range shouldn't be too wide. Flop he c bets 100% of his range. Turn he c bets any Q 100% and AA, KK more than 60%. On the river however, he would definitely value bet AA, KK, JJ, 99, 88. He would also bluff AK, AJ, or some random connectors since he expects me to value bet most of my value hands on the river.
By check-raising my 1010, I'm essentially turning it into a bluff, trying to get AA, KK to fold. I would play my AQ this way at least 30% of the time. Most importantly, this guy is definitely good enough to fold AA, KK here at least 50% of the time... Since he knows... I rarely check-raise river /w bluffs, and he doesn't know that I'm capable of turning a made hand into a bluff.
I think I've lost focus on alot of things that I wanted to accomplish. Both due to things that I could control, and things that I could't control. Of course there are always reasons why I haven't been focusing on these things, but that's not what I'm about. If I'm not doing something... I don't blame it on other things/ppl, it's my own fault for not trying hard enough.

Luckily, I recently had lunch with someone that kinda reminded me of why I was interested in investing in the first place. This definitely helps as far as bringing me back to the goals that I've set, and it brings me back to what I need to do to achieve my goals.

Life is full of surprises. You think someone is coming into your life for a reason, but actually they are there for an entirely different reason. Interesting how that works.

FXI

self explanatory.

holy fuck that's 3 coolers in 1 session. I'm surprised i'm only down like 50BBs.

1) Isoed a fish with JQo. Flop comes AK10 all spades. I got it allin by the turn, and he turns over 69 of spades.

2) Isoed a fish with QQ no diamonds. button flat calls, fish calls. flop comes 246 all diamonds. fish shoves allin for 100BB. I had to call right? so i obviously call. button fuckin insta calls too! KK with a diamond. fish turns over A4 no diamonds.

3) raised preflop on button with 44, semi fish in BB 3 bets tiny. This fish i had a specific read. he doesn't let go of top pairs, even middle pairs. SO i call for set value plus some steal value cuz i didn't think he'd outplay me post flop. Flop comes KQ4. he checks, i pump fist and bets pot. he calls. I was thinking no A, no 9. turn comes 9. now there are 2 spades. he checks... I can't check, i had to bet. i bet 3/4 pot he calls. river comes 10 not a spade. he checks..... i check (although i think maybe i should've betted i think there's stll value) . He turns over kk.

my failure

So my goal of doubling my account has completely failed. My final count is $1967, way short of my 3k goal. I had only increased my account by 33%... which is not satisfactory to my standards.
Several things that have contributed to this.
1) I was writing "let there be MY range" and it took a hell alot longer than I expected. I had just finished to the point that I liked it to TODAY. So this took alot of time away from the actual playing time.
2) I just didn't play enough. I tried to play at least an hour/day, 5 days/week. But now that I think about it, that's a mere 20-30 hours during this entire break. Even at my amazing rate of 6BB/100, that's only about $9/hour playing 100NL and 50NL. 9/hour *30 hours = $270. $270 << $1500. I really should have played a tad bit more, maybe 10 hours/week.

I'm actually even lucky to get to $1967. If it wasn't for my $350 hour today, i would still be at 1500-1600s.
